Eleven Degrees Consulting, on behalf of a client Generic Brands Limited, wishes to fill the vacant position of a Graphic Designer on a Fixed Term Contract Basis to be based in Nairobi.

Position Summary

The Graphic Designer will be responsible for creating visually compelling designs for both digital and print platforms that align with the company’s marketing and branding goals. This role involves collaborating with marketing, product, and content teams to produce high-quality graphics, layouts, and branding materials that drive engagement and reinforce the brand identity. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with strong technical design skills and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

Graphic Design Creation

  • Design and produce high-quality graphics for websites, social media, email campaigns, advertisements, brochures, posters, packaging, and print media.
  • Develop creative concepts and execute designs that align with brand identity, guidelines, and marketing objectives.
  • Create visual assets that engage customers and communicate messages effectively.

Branding and Visual Identity

  • Maintain and evolve the company’s brand identity, ensuring visual consistency across all media.
  • Design logos, branding materials, and other assets that reflect the brand’s values and objectives.
  • Support rebranding initiatives and contribute to the development of design strategies.

Collaborative Work

  • Work closely with marketing, product, and content teams to develop designs that meet project requirements.
  • Partner with copywriters and content creators to ensure visuals complement written content.
  • Communicate design concepts and iterate based on team feedback.

Creative Direction

  • Assist in brainstorming sessions for new design concepts and campaigns.
  • Suggest and implement new design trends, techniques, and creative ideas to keep content fresh and relevant.
  • Contribute to the development of mood boards and visual references for projects.

Digital Media

  • Create engaging social media visuals, online advertisements, and other digital assets that support digital marketing campaigns.

Print and Production

  • Prepare designs for production, ensuring proper formatting, resolution, and color standards.
  • Coordinate with external vendors (printers and promotional suppliers) to ensure the integrity of design output.
  • Review proofs and manage the production process to maintain quality standards.

Quality Control

  • Review all design work for accuracy, brand consistency, and adherence to design standards.
  • Maintain organized archives of design files, brand assets, and templates.

  • Project Completion Time: Complete design projects on schedule while maintaining quality.
  • Design Quality: Deliver creative, high-quality designs that align with project goals and brand standards.
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Achieve high satisfaction from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Number of Revisions: Reduce revisions through strong initial alignment with project requirements.
  • Adherence to Brand Guidelines: Maintain brand consistency across all design outputs.
  • Design Approval Rate: Increase the percentage of first-submission approvals.
  • Creativity and Innovation: Introduce fresh, on-trend design ideas.
  • Marketing Impact: Contribute to improved conversion and engagement rates through effective design.

Academic and Professional Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Graphic Designer or in a similar creative role (minimum 3 years).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other design software.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of design projects and styles.
  • Knowledge of typography, color theory, layout principles, and branding.
  • Experience with motion graphics, video editing (After Effects, Premiere Pro), or animation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with web design principles and UI/UX concepts is an added advantage.
