Position Summary
Reporting to the Ripening-In-Charge, the Forklift Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient forklift operations, loading, unloading, and stacking of avocados, adherence to safety protocols, troubleshooting and performing minor maintenance on the forklift, and maintaining accurate documentation as required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Forklift Operation: Operate forklifts to transport avocados within the ripening chambers and production areas, ensuring safe and efficient handling.

• Loading and Unloading: Load and unload avocados from trucks and other transport vehicles, ensuring proper stacking and storage.

• Traceability: Logical arrangement of bins as per GRN to avoid mix-ups in the ripening chamber and sorting area.

• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries. Conduct regular inspections of forklifts to ensure they are in good working condition.

• Quality Control: Handle avocados with care to prevent damage and maintain quality standards.

• Coordination and Communication: Work closely with the Ripening Chamber Supervisor and other team members to ensure smooth operations and timely movement of avocados and bins.

• Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance checks on forklifts and report any issues to the maintenance team.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of forklift operations, including logs of daily activities and any incidents.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of a Certificate in Forklift Operations, Driving License, or related technical courses.

• Occupational Trade Tests III/II/I for forklift operators from a recognized institution.

• First Aid Certificate Course (minimum 1 week) from a recognized institution.

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience operating a forklift in a food processing or manufacturing environment (preferred).

• Experience with electronic forklifts or similar machinery is a plus.

• Knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to forklift operation and food processing.

Key Skills & Competence

• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand and operate complex forklift equipment.

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks such as forklift inspection, maintenance, and quality control checks.

• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to standard operating procedures.

• Proficiency in computer application skills.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and mechanical issues effectively.

• Resourcefulness and creativity in finding solutions to forklift challenges.

• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced production environment.

• Good physical condition and stamina.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and support team goals and objectives.
