Our client, Generic Brands Ltd — a leading FMCG distribution company under the Mini Group of Companies — is seeking to recruit a qualified and results-oriented Salesperson (Western Central, Rift Valley, Nairobi, & Nyanza ) to drive product visibility, customer growth, and market penetration across Modern Trade outlets in the assigned region.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Head of Modern Trade, the Salesperson (Western Central, Rift Valley, Nairobi, & Nyanza ) will be responsible for achieving sales targets, developing customer relationships, expanding account coverage, and ensuring the proper execution of trade marketing initiatives. The role requires a self-motivated and disciplined professional capable of managing multiple retail accounts, negotiating trade terms, and driving sustainable growth in a competitive FMCG market.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
a) Sales & Customer Management

Manage assigned Tier 2 chain accounts (e.g., Transmatt, Kibuyematt, Kisiimatt, Eldomatt, Dhoni, etc.) across the Western and Nyanza regions.

Secure account openings and negotiate favourable trade terms.

Achieve monthly sales value targets across all product categories.

Conduct regular customer visits to strengthen relationships and resolve service issues.

Expand SKU penetration and secure new listings in existing accounts.
b) Promotion & Merchandising Execution

Coordinate with the Merchandise Team to implement approved promotions and activations.

Monitor in-store visibility, placement of POS materials, and planogram compliance.

Track promotional performance and report weekly on sales uplift and execution gaps.

Conduct post-promotion analysis with Sales Administration to verify ROI.

Facilitate product knowledge sessions with retail partners using GBL product manuals.
c) Finance & Compliance

Follow up on collections in line with approved credit policies.

Reconcile promotional claims, rebates, and discounts before submission to Finance.

Maintain accurate sales documentation and ensure compliance with company policies.
d) Reporting & Market Insights

Submit timely weekly reports on sales performance, outlet growth, and competitor activities.

Provide actionable market intelligence and feedback on promotions, pricing, and consumer trends.

Recommend strategies for improving route-to-market and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience

Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in FMCG sales, preferably in Modern Trade.

Proven track record of meeting or exceeding regional sales targets.

Valid driving license and willingness to travel extensively within the region.
Key Skills & Competencies

Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.

Excellent knowledge of FMCG distribution and merchandising dynamics.

Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

High integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.

Proficiency in MS Office and digital sales reporting tools.
